Who likes Star Wars and what ya think of the new ones
I think Rogue One was a better all around film than either Episode 7 or 8. Episode 7 was better than 8. I haven't seen Solo.
Episode 8 just seemed in a huge hurry to run an eraser over anything from the classic Star Wars movies. Whether it's killing people off or retconning specific aspects, the impression I got from 8 (other than "too long" ) was that it was saying, "We've got to show all of the old favorites so we can jettison them ASAP."
I will say, though, that I don't think "feminism killed Star Wars" is valid. Granted I'm not a super fan, but even if i were, I'd register my dissapointment by highlighting how poorly written I think Episodes 8 and 9 are, not because of feminism.
Rogue One just felt like a solid movie in its own right. It had some nods to the originals, but it's arc could exist independently. I don't think that can be said for the latter two Episodes.
Love Star Wars and I mean all of it. The books, the movies, the comics, the TV shows. I loved the Last Jedi for all the reasons the fan boys hated it. I loved Luke, Leia the lack of Yoda and Jedi. Loved Poe and Finns bromance. Loved Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico. If you like the movies I highly recommend the Clone Wars series as Ahsoka Tano rocks as a strong female Jedi character and the show actually does a lot to redeem whiny bitch Anakin from movies 1-3. I even liked Lukes fuck it all scene with the teat!
Star Wars remains a great franchise, in spite of Kylo Ren. Driver's not a bad actor, Ren's a bad role. Ren's like a brooding , emo teenager, whose daddy's someone important. He delivers the same nuisance factor as Jar Jar Binx.
