Lake Valhalla today, near Stevens Pass WA. Foggy and cold. Fall is around the corner.

Yeah, all this cool weather in August in the Pacific Northwest is unusual. I am wondering if it portends a cold winter. Climate change means greater weather extremes in both directions, even if teh average temperature is higher.

Nice photo!

Gosh ..I’d be looking for huckleberries, in the fog! Spoiled by a childhood of hikes into the Cascade wilderness, I’m ‘over East’ now. 20 above freezing a couple days ago, but the humidity let up ..and it almost felt like home. Miss the PNW so much … but the Blue Ridge Plateau has it’s hooks in me 🙂

Here's Lake Valhalla on a sunny day in June 2016. First we climbed Mt. McCausland and descended to the lake. View from Mt. McCausland:

  1. Glacier Peak, 10,000'
  2. Cascade Mountains with Lake Valhalla on the lower left.

You are welcome, dear. That's why I love hiking in North Central Washington. Blue skies and spectacular views.

I'm not going to give the locations because they would be crowded by hordes of Seattleites.

Gorgeous! Hard for us here in the West to remember the word "autumn!"

Beautiful picture, really makes me miss that part of the country. I have climbed Rainier six times, can't wait for number seven!!! I have traveled all over the world and Rainier is my favorite place on the planet, so far!

We were just saying that here in Oregon also. Hope it helps the firefighters. Our air has been clear and the temp. cooler.
