For all you lovers out there...here is one of the most sensuous pieces I have personally ever come across; Ravel's BOLERO.
I chose this version because of the youthful orchestra playing it. I can't help but imagine what may have transpired afterward. Go ahead, call me a dirty old man.
Anyway, I first heard this selection in the movie '10' with Dudley Moore and Bo Derek. Enjoy:
The first time I heard this song was as a child watching Fantasia in a theater. It was a scene depicting dinosaurs
marching stoically over barren land....searching for food and water. One by one they dropped to their death as their
extinction unfolded. The music created a mystical image of a great struggle for life, even as mortality loomed. It was a
mesmerizing experience for me. And I still feel its emotional impact all these decades later when I hear this song. It is truly beautiful and inspirational.
Could it serve to heighten my sensuality? I suspect so. And I look forward to finding out soon.
Interesting; I saw Fantasia also as a child, but have no recall of this music from there. I guess I need to watch it again.
My parents had a Ravel's Bolero album, probably the Leonard Bernstein version that came out in 1980 and my dad probably bought it after watching '10,' a movie I wasn't allowed to watch at the time. Even though the album was so out of place with the rest of his mostly 60s rock collection, it took me a while to realize, probably after I finally watched '10,' that it was probably bought as music to "bang" to. LOL
