Been on a Lovecraft kick lately, at the moment listening to reading of 'At the Mountains of Madness'; horror is one of my fave genres. Even as problematic as the writer can be for people of color I really enjoy the tales and the descriptions at work. It astounds me how his writings have become so embedded in the modern mythology of our modern society.
Beautiful and infinitely terrifying.
nope once i found out what a total shit faced bawbag he was i burned the 2 books of his i had you can forgive stupid but not vehement hatred im glad he died in poverty and saddened he continues to be held up as some sort of literary horror master fck him and all he stood for
This is an AMAZING horror film. Pure artistry. Make sure it’s the 1977 version. There was a shitty remake this year. [en.m.wikipedia.org]
I'm checking this out...
@DarthChocolate you will not be disappointed- the crazy colors and music by prog rock band Goblin, wooden acting and suspense, all come together to be kitschy and seriously genius at the same time.
I started reading Lovecraft when I was a teenager. I used to take a paperback anthology with me when I would babysit on weekend evenings. Sitting alone in a strange house caring for other people's sleeping children. Sometimes that was pretty intense.
That is awesome.
