I found out my genetic testing is going to cost over 1500 dollars. I'm gonna call and appeal to my insurance but you know what their favorite word is.
Fuckkkkkkk
Actually you would think the insurance company would like that information as then they could charge you for having the genetic makeup you have. Pre existing conditions which Trump wants to do away with. Living where you live it may not actually take an act of Congress to take this away. The state may do it itself.
Ancestry DNA was on sale for $59 last time I checked. That's who I used. If you want full medical analysis Promethease will do it for $5. Just download the raw data from Ancestry DNA and upload to Promethease.com.
Not ancestory genetic diseases
@LadyAlyxandrea, that's what Promethease is for.
@LadyAlyxandrea, I got a full medical report on every known genetic trait and my condition relating to it for $5 from promethease.com. I get it updated every year to keep up with the latest medical knowledge. I found out some useful things, like the fact that my body can't metabolize statins, so I have to avoid them. I also am prone to Parkinson's disease, so I take every vitamin that might slow the onset of it. I'm essentially immune to AIDS. And lots more.
@ldheinz this is amazing! Thank you for sharing it.
No problemo, @JenBeberstein. 23andme has the same test, and I haven't checked prices lately. Stay away from Family DNA. They screwed me. 23andme used to have a link to promethease.com, but I heard it's being discontinued.
@ldheinz I know several people who will benefit from this information and I may even go for it myself.
And now you know the kind of margins the medical profession works on.
They might just charge you the co-pay for the visit upfront. After that you can probably make payments. Add an extra 0. That's what my back surgery cost.
My last ER visit cost $2,500. That my insurance company is going after someone else for.
Unfortunately my insurance wants me to hit my out of network deductible but the thing is, there isn't a genetics lab in kansas so there's NO WAY to be IN network.
Appeal it and keep appealing. It may work.
THIS! Especially because you said there's no way to be IN network with a genetics lab. This is their fault and not yours.
Mine won't pay either- Medicare. If I made about 3500 less, Medicaid would. Universal health care for all, and done well.
