Half of Ireland's post primary schools have ignored a directive from the department of education that they offer students who do not wish to do religion the choice of an alternative subject. Students who do not want this are obliged to remain in the classroom while religious education takes place. The new directive, issued last February, oblige schools to consult with parents as to whether or not they wish their child to participate in religious education.
This is the religious trying to continue indoctrination of the very young. Although religion is loosing on every front it still tries to exert it's waning influence on the vulnerable. In my opinion, child indoctrination is child abuse.
