Is this why I was forbidden to attend school dances?

Why? Did that have a negative effect on you growing up?

@Charity You think is better now? My Ex GF in DC teaches and taught partnered dancing classes in a number of schools, public and private in Maryland and DC area. In some schools it is used as a punishment you may say. At times at after hours programs. Very optional and never part of the core curriculum. And the attitude of the school administration? If boys want to dance with boys and girls with girls... let them. It is called "Partnered Dancing" for a reason. In my Latin Culture upbringing... if you couldn't dance... you ain't dating. Right away growing up taught me the need to learn to cooperate with another individual to achieve a goal! Rules are set in stone and they work!!! Male lead, female follow, Left hand is lead hand. You can't count the beat if you don't know the count. The purpose of the Leader is to create a "Frame" for the Follower show up her charms and grace!!! So a guy showing off... Not Good. Being Left handed was first activity that made me feel good about being Left handed... and yes... partnered dancing was invented by a Left handed!!!!! I see those 7 and 8 year olds and they will be so socially awkward in a decade... and education and science will spent money and time studying why a generation is so awkward!!!! When my son was about 14-15 he was already 6' tall so when he came to visit me in DC in the summer I will let him go with my then GF to her "group classes" and there he was taking dance lessons with young women in their 20's. I didn't had to explain to him... "If you can Dance, you will never be Lonely". Today he dances in a Latin Dance Company in Las Vegas. When we argue at times and he bring up he is the best dancer in the family... My comeback is Simple... "How do you think that happened?". My face lighten up seeing his face!!!! I had seen kids expressing their frustration because they have to touch a girl dancing... how they want to die!!!! The most beautiful scene I ever remember was me on my First Mediterranean Cruise in a Port Visit in Spain and we are in a club, we are on the second level looking down in the dance floor and in the club they started playing "Sevillanas music", Flamenco!!!! All girls started dancing, the boys stood aside, clapping their hands. Everyone participated and from the top looked like if it was a dance company... nah. Those kids grew up together and learned in the same school how to dance flamenco and dance is an activity you can do until your body give up. "Social Awkwardness" will haunt americans for a long time... despite the "online interaction in their lives". When in the Navy I realized for the first time... There is a "let's go drinking culture". I always been a "let's go dancing culture". Not the same thing even if doing their thing side by side. You are still Young and Able Body... Catch Up!!!!

@Charity And my Hero too!!!! You got to live life. Until you die. I never cared for money... I cared for Fun. With money I would had made a club for 50 and over... EVERYBODY ID at the door!!!! Society always trying to teaches us to "prepare to die". Fuck That!!! I may had Slowed Down but I am still heading in the same direction that I headed 50 years ago!!!! I am in a Funk myself lately and you know the reason but I will Snap out of it at my due time!!!

@Charity Thanks... working on some songs... all same theme... english and spanish.

@GipsyOfNewSpain I'll dance with you when ever you want 🙂
