I just received my "Agnostic.com" tee shirt ($15). I wore it to Sunday Brunch. I believe it was my "coming out" moment. I live in a senior retirement facility that caters to both independent and assisted living residents. The first little old lady who noticed my shirt asked "Is that the name of a club"? No, I responded. It's the name of a web site. What does that word mean, she asked. I told her, "agnostic" refers to folks who believe the very earliest humans on the planet made up the concept of a god to explain where the sun went at night. They used the god concept to explain everything they didn't know. She thanked my, with a cold stare. I excused myself and moved on. I then passed another little old lady. With a big smile, she said "I like your shirt". It is going to be a good day.
I often wear atheist t-shirts into town. I got so much response I eventually got a tattoo!
Well if what you're saying is what I think you're saying they charge you $15 for a t-shirt sounds like even when I get to level 8 I am not getting a shirt cuz I'm not paying 15 bucks for a t-shirt I don't care what it says on it
Yes please don't bother to say it I am a Cheapskate I know that
It's my understanding that the level 8 shirt is free. I just couldn't wait.
@tfg1929 oh really you just made my day
@Drsmash253 Your welcome.
Not the definition I would have given, but it's good to get conversations started and get people thinking. I remember the first few times ever wearing t-shirts with secular sayings on them, and worried that people would think I was cruising for a bruising, but I just got a few scowls and zero thumbs up. That was years ago. Most people didn't really give my "message" much thought. Looking forward to agnosticism being accepted as a valid stance by "nice" people. T-shirts like that will help move the conversation forward. Good job!
I enjoy wearing my "not my president" shirt for the same reason.
@BohoHeathen I also have one that says "Very Stable Genius" and another that says "Survivor of the Bowling Green Massacre"
Agnostic does not mean what you told the lady. Agnostic means that you have no knowledge of the existence of a deity.
@creative51 Of course you can define it any way you like. A rose by any other name is still a rose and would smell just as sweet. You do you, I do me and let's strive to do or cause no harm.
I told the lady what it means to me, in words she would understand.
