I rent a condo here. I'm dressed in shorts and an anime shirt. I have a hat with shades on top. To top it off I have an anime back back. (Attack on titan). This white lady in the elevator asks, "are you with spectrum?" I'm like damn. WTF?

Also, I have no idea what "Spectrum" is. I assume from context it's a company of some sort? Internet or cable since it seems she thought you were doing an installation or repair? But, if it is a company, it should be capitalized -- Spectrum-- as it is a proper noun and would help with context.
You may want to remember that not everyone is from your area so not everyone will be familiar with local companies or locations.
I still don't understand why the skin color of the lady matters. I would think that age would be more of a deciding factor in knowing what anime is.

@MrChange Except that I'm a white women who knows what anime is and even knows what Attack on Titan is. So, again, how does race play into this scenario?

@MrChange Ha. Must be because RACE has nothing to do with anything. Duh. Can't defend against the indefensible.
@SkotlandSkye he's from FloriDUH so race probably does factor in to his daily life, whether white people acknowledge it or not. I had black friends in high school that were in to anime and did not fit the black stereotype mould and they were mocked or regarded strangely. Perhaps that is what he was alluding to?
