My pet hate. Overly long prose in emails, and ridiculous language in contracts. Horribly long sentences in editorials. It really isn’t a sign of being educated or clever. English is a “writer responsible language”, that means if the intended readership cannot understand, the writer is at fault. The real skill is to convey complex concepts in few words. That was why Capote was an amazing writer.
Should we be concerned that it only gets LESS intelligible as it gets more educated?
