An odd phenomenon! I've seen dark lines (not the cable, obviously) in the sky before, but never as defined as this one. My guess is it was caused by the shadow of a contrail, as there seems to be one just visible apparently below the dark line (but actually above the line). Any other ideas?

An aircraft could have flown through it and pushed the clouds apart.
