actually, some of us CAN write. shall we pretend we're just not that good?

g

i have a feeling we can ALL write, some of us enjoy a bit of pretense

@IamBane actually a good number of us cannot write. i'm not saying that's a dealbreaker; this is a place to express oneself and share ideas and friendship, not a writing competition. as for pretense, i don't see what that has to do with writing ability. are you saying some of us are pretending to be able to write? it's a little difficult to do that since all we have to go on in that regard is the actual writing, which either is well done or isn't. i think by pretense you mean pretentiousness. yep, some folks are pretentious, here as elsewhere. welcome to the world.

g

@genessa no, i meant the noun. and it's not one's ability that i question, it's that some "pretend" or feign outrage and concern over topics that don't mean shit....Welcome to MY world!

@IamBane no, i have not perceived that some people's outrage is fake. there is the occasional troll here as anywhere but they're not prevalent. i think people are expressing what they think here.

g

@genessa yeah, maybe im projecting...it's fun to get a stir out of someone

@Avicenna a few! it's surprising how many atheists can't spell atheist, though.

There "r" also people here who are really insecure about their ability to write.

@Avicenna what r u talking about? who's huffy or hurt? then u call me a boy, boy?!? how bout this: fuk u!...and agnosticism's central tenet is NOT running ur mouth until u KNOW how things work; u could learn from this...im glad u brought it up!

@Avicenna zat witty enough 4 ya????????????????

@Avicenna UR > thx

@Avicenna you are right. Thanks.

Trying to keep it brief.

@Avicenna I know. I recognized your sarcasm:"This could have ben written more briefly as, 'Waddyamean?'" I was attempting to respond in kind. I think I struck out. 😟

@Avicenna I didn't intend to encrypt it. I just took the brevity thing to the extreme.

In my defense, brevity is normally not in my nature.

And how exactly, are all these people showing they are taken with their own writing prowess ?

@Avicenna Your prodigious , and profound text has left me vigorously verklempt ! <grin>

@Avicenna Yiddish, I think. So overcome with emotion as to be unable to speak. I never heard it before I married my current wife, who uses it with abandon, but can't recall where she got it from. But I'm guessing it came from her Jewish stepmother.

@Avicenna No; its just that sometimes I discuss my prior wife who died or my first wife who I am divorced from, and I try to keep those separate in my mind, much less the minds of others.

@Avicenna could this not also be a reference to a former wife whom has since been replaced?

You’ve left out their ability to think, reason, spell or edit 🙂

Hi, Bane, and welcome to the website!

Sorry if some people on here are a bit verbose, but I'm probably one of them, LOL!

By the way, this website has a bit of a learning curve, so here's some info, in case you need it.

For members who are open to dating, certain thumbnails and profiles have a heart symbol on them with a percentage. This identifies which members are open to dating, and the percent shows approximately how compatible others are with them.

You gain website points by answering all the profile questions and writing a bio, which also earns website points, and helps other members get to know you.

Commenting on posts and writing your own posts earns more points. At level two you can private message people, and at level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.

If you want to date, the website uses profile algorithms to find member matches, so the more details one includes, the better the match.

Many people prefer to see a written profile talking about interests, hobbies, and backgrounds that can be quickly perused to find others with similar interests..

In case you didn't know yet, to find members near you, click on the "Browse" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Click on the "Discuss" button, then "Nearby" to find members near you also.
Or click on the "About" button at the top left of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
Points are now being given to level 3+ members who chat. You can see chat rooms on the group main page or at [agnostic.com].

I'm more likely to notice if somebody is bad at writing than I am if they're good at it.
