One of my favorite authors has died. Usala K. Le Guin.

She is perhaps best known for the Earth-Sea Trilogy. Other notable works are:

The Left Hand of Darkness,
The Dispossessed,
The Lathe of Heaven

The Freedom From Religion Convention awarder her the "Emperor Has No Clothes" to Le Guin. The FFRF describes the award as "celebrating 'plain speaking' on the shortcomings of religion by public figures".

No! The first 2 you list are among my favorite books regardless of genre.

One of my favorite lines, "I suffer from the French diseases of the soul: pique, ennui, and umbrage." She was remarkable.

Now I'm turning the house upside down to find the thing for cracking the ice from your drink I bought in a SciFi shop a million years ago, And I hope her tombstone is updated every year to how many years ago she died. She was the best!

I've only read her "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas"; she was certainly a gifted writer.

It’s kind of like losing a Friend when your favorite author dies.

I remember reading the original Earthsea Trilogy as a child back in the 70's. Went on to The Beginning Place, The Lathe of Heaven, Left Hand of Darkness, the Dispossed, the Rocannon books, etc. The world of words, and the world at large, were the better for her being in them.
