.There are some scholars who find shades of anti-semitism in his works.

I read Watts, way back in my early youth...He writes well, I guess, but it always seemed to me that his books were more like a "Beginner's Guide to Eastern Religion" and that I got a lot more insight into that area by talking and learning about it with folks who were practicing Buddhists.... and helped me understand things, as best they could, as I was coming from a western perspective at the beginning. Campbell I think is wonderful....(Tarnished somewhat however,by his politics.)

I took a highlighter pen to many passages in Campbell's books, and re-read those passages in coming to my own perspective and outlook on spirituality. I think Joseph Campbell's writing and ideas had a hand in steering me toward my own path.
