HORSEBACK WRESTLING. BONE TOSSING. DEAD GOAT POLO. LET THE NOMAD GAMES BEGIN
NY Times Kyrgyzstan Dispatch.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT...........
Like I keep saying you have to have a subscription to see the NYT. Please don't post links from them, since I have to then type the title into google search and find a similar article to read about it.
"Kok Boru is by far the most outstanding and revered sport at the World Nomad Games. Similar to polo, this game involves two teams competing to throw an object into a round goal at each end of the field. The object: The headless carcass of a goat.
Known as Buzkashi in Afghanistan (the national sport there), Kok Boru is also the most controversial due to the rough use of a dead animal. But this game has been played for centuries, and the goat is awarded to the winning team to be cooked up in a feast, so nothing goes to waste."

At the time of posting I was unaware that these were not available without a subscription. I always name the source so feel free to ignore the post if it is NY Times, however I will continue for others who have access. I will check out your link though, thanks.
@patchoullijulie No, it's frustrating to see a post with an interesting headline then find I have to do all this copy/paste stuff and find it in another venue. But I suppose I can just block you so I won't be enticed into trying to read your posts.
