Dear religious,
As I know mostly all religions believe that god is like a teacher who treats his creatures. This is my fundamental question; What does a real tutor want from his or her pupils? Isn’t it just a perfect feedback of teaching?! Flattery is not what makes you better student in front of a Conscientious teacher. If even you as a student don’t love him or her, nothing would be changed for your teacher. She or he wanna have a good consequence in teaching not students who love their teachers.

I would want my students simply to learn to think better than I.

good point buried in there, but it IS buried, because first of all, you're addressing atheists and agnostics here, not the religious, so the religious won't see this; and your initial premise -- that most religions believe that god is like a teacher -- is incorrect. i've never seen a religion like that. in addition, in religions in which flattery is involved, it's the god that wants the flattery, not the student.
