Holy mother of Zeus, l had no idea there were that many groups on this site. l just spent at least 30 or 40 minutes scrolling through the pages of groups here. (yes, stopping once in a while to check out some that looked interesting, but not staying long...) I was thinking of starting a group for the outdoors wo/man that are into fishing and hunting, etc, and wanted to make sure there wasn't a group already in place. l had no idea there were this many groups here, and a shit load were rather obscure type topics l think people started just to say they started a group and hoping folks would join so they could get points or something.. l'm not really looking for replies to this, l guess it's more of a ''WOW,CHECK THIS SHIT OUT'' kind of post.. So if you find yourself bored one day, take the time to scroll through all the groups out there.. truly mind boggling..

@Captain_Feelgood Couldn't stand Leno, tho I loved Johnny. I'm very pleased with most of this new crop. They've honed their comedic skills, have great writers & a perfect target! More topical & smarter than ever.

I've been reluctant to start a group myself because there are already so many groups. If you're looking to see if a similar group already exists, before you start one, you can do the search option with key words that apply.

Found it. A group gets retired after 2 months with no traffic.

I did the same a few weeks back and, ever since, have advocated a group cull - perhaps all groups which have been inactive for, say, a month if they have <10 members and three months if they have more members than that could be considered dead and thus candidates for deletion unless anyone fancies having a go at resuscitating them?

Admin did say that after a period of inactivity that groups would become inactive. It may have been a three month period with no traffic? It would be posted to Senate Group.

I know when we first had groups that duplication happened from the very beginning. It actually works - as the same group about one topic may be different under different hosts.
But multiple multiples? It gets confusing. Particularly for new folks.

A cap of some sort might be in order?

Iagree we have a shitload of groups here. I own and monitor 3 of them: Singles/Mingle/Chat being the largest at close to 1000 members, cancer Survivors and Jewish by Culture/Jewish Memes which I recently took over from an abandoned member.
