Provided below 2 examples of "gambling". And why I feel no thrill even in putting a dime I own on a slot machine. Not my kick. In my family were 2 uncles that made a living as jockeys, first time I met them was on my grandfather's funeral... they came up with their brand new convertibles cadillac and lincoln. They were the Super Stars on my mother's side... They gave me each "their lucky quarter" telling me not to tell the other kids... each of the kids in the funeral got one, we later find out. Granted, they were very old quarters and looked "special". Every time I saw them they gave me the same advice. Never gamble, never put your money on us. The Iglesias Brothers developed a Reputation as Mafia Jockeys in Puerto Rico. They were great jockeys but they had a master. I HAVE NO MASTER. I LIVE IN LAS VEGAS. I DON'T GAMBLE. NOT MONEY ANYWAYS... MY LIFE BEEN ON THE LINE A LOT. Always wrote a check my body will cash. STILL A WINNER UNTIL NO LONGER AM. Read below and try to make sense...

On Sunday morning, a bettor at a William Hill sportsbook in Nevada placed an $18,000 money-line bet on the Vikings at odds of -1,800 for a chance at netting $1,000.

The Westgate SuperBook told ESPN it took a $9,000 money-line bet on the Vikings at -2,000 odds shortly before kickoff. That bet would have won a net $450.

Both examples taken from ESPN about NFL gambling and losing on today's Vikings-Bills result.

I use to go to the horse races in Seattle when the track was called Longacres. Usually bet on a jockey named Gary Baze, won almost every bet.
On a road trip coming back from visiting family in NJ and PA I stopped in Reno and played craps at a 25c table - with 1 $10 roll of quarters I played for a couple of hours and walked away with my $10 roll of quarters. I had fun and lost nothing. I have never been to Las Vegas.
A friend of mine use to play blackjack - big money bets and ALL his winnings went to charity. He was a bit addicted to gambling and he justified his trips to Atlantic City by giving his winnings to charity. I saw he one time down $25,000, we ate dinner he went back to the table, recouped the $25,000 and left $3,000 ahead. He really like the adrenaline rush I guess and he really believed if he kept the winnings he would loose.
I don't bet on sports but when the Cubs went to the World Series I knew they would win the best of seven, I do wish I'd laid some money down - but then maybe if I bet I would have jinxed them. 😉
