@MikeFlora -- No offense, it's champing at the bit -- though Webster does list 'chomping' as an alternate. I'm a writer. Words, idioms, structure, and usage are my stock in trade.
@evidentialist I see what you are saying, I stand corrected, it sounds dumb though. who actually says "champing".
@MikeFlora -- It is pronounced so that the sound is close to chomping but not quite.
Oh, and I am one who obviously does or I might has spelled it differently.
@evidentialist Why don't we just say chomping and be done with it?
@MikeFlora -- Because that's not the word as it has been for a bit over 200 years. So, the better question is, why don't we learn it correctly and be done with it?
