Check this out, I've already had few interactions w/ this guy, he'a theist, but he's a good human. He's open to civil discussion, & to being proven wrong & already admits that he may be wrong, & that his beliefs are largely due to his upbringing. This is a tweet of his, & my response. I responded respectfully, & am eager to see where this leads.
This is exactly the type of person I want to start interviewing on my YouTube channel. I want to have civil conversations with people without finger pointing to discover why people believe what they do. It seems most often they have never thought of that themselves.
The stew of self-loathing that is Christianity tells you that it is fundamentally wrong to take or accept credit for your actual accomplishments, that it leads the dread sin of pride, to the unraveling of the notion that "without god I am nothing". Proud independence from god and his overweening need for glory and praise and credit leads to things that religion cannot tolerate. Self sufficiency, pursuit of rational self interest, personal responsibility for outcomes of your decisions, and in general, the end of childhood.
Religion basically just wants to keep everyone in a state of perpetual immaturity and dependence. I am sure that this fellow is really challenged by the notion that credit is due him. That is taboo. I hope it plants a seed though.
??? Why are you pursuing some theist, trying to gain approval? You didn't list yourself as gay.
I stay far away from religious wing nuts and certainly don't argue with them.
@ElementX74 Several people here on this forum have said this, but in my experience, nothing I've ever said to an alt-right wing nut has made the slightest difference. It seems to entrench their delusions and increase their insults and abuse. But if you can change anyone's mind, by all means do it!
