Has anyone else been berated, belittled, threatened, blacklisted, or assaulted for being an atheist?
I have worked with and for some deeply religious people (christian, muslim, and jewish) and my atheism has never been an issue. If they spoke negatively about it, they never did it in my presence.
No. I'm the one who defriended/blocked/deleted my religious white supremacist relatives and childhood friends when they came out as Trump supporters, and cut off contact with them.
More likely to be the other way around in my country. I think you can get a hard time being a religious nut in Australia
Only my Mother, Sisters (one of which is an atheist) and wife have done so. It is odd how those closest to me refuse to listen. Now my wife sometimes does listen and I no longer communicate with the rest of my family.
berated and belittled online, by strangers, yes. it bothers my guy, who isn't religious but still believes in a kind of vague, nebulous god he can't really tell me about, that i am and atheist, and even more that sometimes i mention it. he doesn't berate or belittle me but he gets uncomfortable, and when i asked him what kind of god he believed in, he got mad. i took a lot of crap for being jewish; still occasionally do. some of that was horrific.

Being Jewish is a ball game that most Christians do not understand. Christians can wake up Buddist one dayand the response is "you'll come back to Jesus." In the Jewish community you are always Jewish no matter what. Your Children will be Jewish even if they were raised Buddist and have never heard of Judaiam. Best of luck!
I voted no even though I have probably been berated as in having my views berated but other than that no.
I appreciate your response. Not everyone has had a rough road, and that view is supportive to others.
