Does any one else love yard sales, antique shops, consignment stores or just shopping for bargains? I would love to see your finds! Please post them here?

I would also love to see pictures of your events! Museums, festivals, carnivals and fairs. This is a good way for us to take a trip and never leave the farm!

Oh, I'm a sucker for charity shops, car boot sales etc. Haven't had chance to go recently, but I did swap a six pack of cider for a bass with one of my neighbours recently - does that count?

Holy moly you definitely got the better end of the deal! Is there something wrong with it?

@SukiSue the nut needed to be rebuilt around the A string and the pots needed a squirt of switch solvent, but the neck is dead straight and the electronics all work. It's only a cheapy brand but still a bargain at the equivalent of £10!

In the 70s I owned three antique store in California. It was mainly turn of the century high end ornate oak furniture

I owned an antique shop in the 90s!

Okay everybody! @akfishlady already has a group for bargain hunters... But she mentioned she may be leaving the site? If so we will remain.

If she stays I am going to change the wording a little and the new one will be for trips events and places that we should all know about. Does that sound good?

A few years ago I bought a pocket watch at a yard sale. It is a Jules Racine with a crystal front, which the jeweler tells me it is of Timex Quality. After she looked at the watch she looked at the chain and fob attached to it. Some sort of gold chain and the fob is a Knights Templar piece with ruby and diamond chips in it. It keeps perfect time over the length of a week. I paid $1

@SukiSue It's my best find. I have a woman friend who can pass through a garage sale after me and cherry pick the neatest stuff for her resale shop. To me it was junk.!! it takes years of practice to know what's a great find.

I thoroughly enjoy going to garage sales! We live in a golf cart community so we travel around in our custom golf cart looking for treasure. Lately they seem to be people just trying to get rid of crap that they are tired of. But still it is one of our favorite pastimes!

I used to and still have a nice sewing machine I got from one sale.I do use it still. As a teen I once bought a typewriter. Got a typing book from the library and learned to type. Now, with our TIOLE at the local 'dump' there is a yard sale 3 days a week. Our microwave and toaster oven came from there along with a lot of clothes. take it or leave it [project468.com]

Lol.... This is Great! I also frequent a free store at www.wachusettearthday.org. People bring their unwanted used items and others shop to take them home. The mission is to keep things out of the landfill.

@SukiSue We have a woman whose mission it is to inform people about landfills. She gives lectures and tours of the 'dump' (not really a dump as there is no landfill on Lopez - there are people who create their own on their property). Did you know that recycling is not financially neutral - it costs more than dumping?
We also have a thrift store which was created to start a clinic which we now have. Last year the thrift store gave over $42K in grants.

I even love seeing what other people find or see at a festival. I just bought this at a fair we call, "start on the street." It's held the third Saturday every September in Worcester Massachusetts. There are over 300 artists vendors!
