So what do you say to someone when they say: God Bless
I say thank you, but usually with a look on my face like I just smelled a fart.
I simply say “thank you.” There is little to be gained by starting an uncomfortable discussion about religious believe systems just because they were trying to be nice. Besides, the act of starting such a discussion would be throwing their good intentions back in their face. To me, that would be uncharitable.
I just came up with a snappy comeback..... just say "go to hell"! What cha think...?
as outspoken as I am, I usually ignore it. They are not ready to learn.
It all depends on the situation, the surroundings, who is saying it to me and their attitude while they're saying. All those things will dictate my answer back to them. But I am realistic I am a southern girl so 99% of the time it's thank you.
I tell them : no need to, I will be thinking of you
Yeah, the superstition trained response to a sneeze is quite frustrating to me. But, I just ignore that.
I was once asked why I was so rude by not thanking them for their blessing. I told them that I don't believe in superstition.
All other bless offerings are ignored by me, except when I grunt out of frustration.
