And here is Larry Adler from an historic 1935 recording. It is fascinating listening to the announcer who obviously believed that the audience was paying to hear his voice not that of an upstart young (24) harmonica player:

Bloody egoist time waster - the intro goes for about 3 minutes before Larry is allowed to play!

When my daughter was a child, I kept a Hohner harmonica in the compartment between the front car seats. On long drives, I'd pull out the harmonica and noodle around with it.

Then hand it to little Claire. She'd try to top my riff. Back-and-forth we went, getting sillier each time.

Eventually, we'd be laughing so hard, I had to knock it off. Let Claire play with it. After all, I was driving.

John Popper and Stevie Wonder. You can identify them instantly when you hear them play a harmonica.

@Duke I agree they both have distinct sounds.
