Serious thought-provoking question. Why are some tortillas sold as "taco size"? What other size is there? Burrito size? Enchelada size? Chimichanga size? Fun size (for the kids)? I need to get to the bottom of this! Do I need to be a member of the Mexican Mofia to get the true answer?
I think you may have missed the stated mini taco size. Corn tortillas that are 'regulation' size are normal taco size. The little guys are mini taco size. They are useless. They don't hold much of anything. They tend to come apart unless held just so. On the other hand, the little ones are easier to hold so they don't self destruct. Of course, I like my tortillas pochada and not crujiente. The crisp taco shells eliminate the problems I have with my overloading habit, but they also prevent me from overloading which is disgusting.
LMAO! Good point!
You have standard burrito size (flour), you have extra large (flour) that are used for burros, chimichangas, etc.
Look at the major fast food Mexican joints. Their tortillas are about half the size! 2/3 at best. Is there a standard?
Once I figure this out, my next case is to find out why hot dogs and hotdog buns don't have the same amount!
@TheGreatShadow major fast food restaurants are poor imitations of real mexican food. One cannot judge Mexican food byTaco Bell, del Taco or any of the other cheap imitations out there. Find someplace that is family run and the family is 1st or wnd generation immigrant. Then you'll get real Mexican.
