That's why we have two houses. The house of representatives was created to give more weight in decision making too the more populous states. The Senate is intended to give equal representation to each state. This is one of many compromises that was necessary to establish a constitution for our country.

If you want an undemocratic and screwed up branch of government look at the supreme court. Members are not elected, serve as long as they choose, and in no way answer to the citizens of the country.

Oh, it doesn't bother me as much that 548 Americans elect the president as it does that Russia decided which ones decided.
