I think it was fun to research for a little while, but it's not anything I would devote serious time to.

Not really into it. However I may use it as an example of how hard it is to prove the negative, as in tryign to prove that god doesnt' exist.
I am more likely t though to take the tack that just because a person (or people) wrote a book that does not mean it is true. I might ask them to prove that the Hogwart's School from the Harry Potter books isn't real, and then point out how virtually every arrangement they make to prove it isn't true is applicable to the origins of their "holy book(s)" whatever it may be.
