The past couple of years have been pretty tough for music fans. Tom Petty was a big loss for me. His music was a huge influence on me during the late 70's and early 80's. When he passed, I wanted to do something as a tribute. I recorded this in my basement "boom room" with just an acoustic guitar. I didn't want to try to duplicate his sound. You just can't do Tom Petty like Tom Petty. So, (for the music geeks that want to know what I did here) I changed the song structure from 4/4 time to 3/4 and sang this the way it felt at the time. I hope I didn't destroy the song for anyone.
One for me is Leon Russell. Highly underrated in my eyes.
@Piece2YourPuzzle He was definitely underrated. I loved his work.
@Duke I can't tell you the number of people I've come across that are unaware that he wrote, "A Song For You".
Sadly government / national paranoia has now made mockery of Eric's song. Offshore concentration camps are employed to injure refugees and keep them illegally detained.
So are we gonna be able to tune in here for a daily concert, because if so, I'm LOVIN' this!?!?!
Nice, Duke. Thanks for that. I loved Tom Petty's music. I think my all-time favorite is Runnin' Down A Dream. I saw him in concert a couple years ago in L.A.; the "warm up" band was ZZ Top. He will be missed. Incidentally, I heard he was Bob Dylan's son-in-law, is that true?
Thanks for posting that. It's wonderful.
I'm still absolutely heartbroken at his passing.
Nicely done! I bought Damn the Torpedoes on cassette when it came out in 1979 and wore it out dragging Main Street in Garden City Kansas. Thanks for sharing.
@Fearlessfreep Thanks! Oh yeah... that was the album to have that year!
Awesome version, dude!
@BikerDude50 Thank you!
I always like your style... good stuff.
Thanks! @BucketlistBob
That's awesome! You sound amazing. I grew up on Petty, The Boss, The king, George, Hank and Slayer. I have an ovation too, along with about 5 or 6 others.
Thanks! @jayneonacobb I really appreciate that!
