Who knows about wind turbines? Just need something to keep the battery charged in the bird coop to power a 250W heat lamp.
You need a brake, and a diversion load. Unlike solar panels, it won't stop if the batteries are charged. There is a guy around here that went on vaccation. His wind generator was huge. Bearings and propeller broke. That must have been expensive! It was years before he got it fixed. To make them as efficcient as possible, you need to be about 30' (or higher). I have two, but never put them up. I need a building permit and never got to it.
I don't know if a wind turban will cut it? First i would measure your average wind velicity (this information might already be online for your nearest major city)
Our wind is way above average makes Chicago look breezy.
@azzow2 a quick google search tells me you need an avg wind velocity of +20 mph to beat a solar. Solar is just more efficient right now. the grid (once you include the price off upkeep on the battery banks, is pretty close in price.), though the way things are going I have read solar is starting to break even. (price wise over 10 years)
How many storage batteries do you have
