There goes the neighborhood! So there I was in a Kirklands store browsing. Taking interest in a little side table a tiny, older woman, chimed in "Aren't those great. Do you think I should get them?" We discussed the pro's and cons and the little basket table's utility for throws and blankets and as we chatted for a bit, she began telling me how she was decorating a new apartment because she had recently moved. One reason she moved was because she was all alone in a very big house far out in the country. The other reason was because Atheists had moved in next door! I shrugged and said I wouldn't have a problem with that, since I am one. She said she was Roman Catholic and didn't time for atheists in her life, the friendly conversation shut down. But she still bought the tables.

Weird how people who are part of the pedophile ring known as the Catholic Church think they are better than atheists, LOL!

Such a silly woman. How sad for her.
And on a side note, I appreciate your describing her as an 'older' woman and not an old woman. Although maybe using the term 'old' in her case might be appropriate 😀

I would have just bent over a little to look in her in the eye and said, "Well bless your little fucking heart!"

Sad close minded little old lady.

Sounds like you handled it well. I'm sure somewhere deep down in her brain she has to be thinking that a seemingly nice normal person had a decent conversation with her, until her prejudice shut it down. I hope every time she looks at those tables, she thinks of you.
