Super glue original use was a battlefield surgery. Why is it sold as a fix all glue? I have never had it actually repair anything successfully. Just like WD-40 is thought to be a lubricant it is not it is a degreaser. WD-40 is good to get crayon out of clothing. What other products are misconstrued?
I have heard of using super glue to close a wound. I keep on telling people that WD-40 is not a lubricant. WD-40 wasn't designed as a degreaser either. It stands for Water Displacement formula #40. People think Duck tape is a name brand and it's "duct tape". Duct tape is different (it is more of a silver higher temp tape). From what I heard the government used it in the military for quick fixes including fixing things that are wet. Hence the term duck (as being amphibous).
Yes very good on the duct tape. I did HVAC a few years and duct tape has many different aspects to it.
@azzow2 About 15 years ago ASTM (formerly known as American Society for Testing and Materials) tested duct tape. They determined that while it was good for many things, it was not suitable for duct work because it fails suddenly and catastrophically. The military has a tape that looks the same, but has a different adhesive and is much more expensive. It is sometimes used for light repairs on airplanes.
WD40 is made of fish oil . Oil is a lubricant . I do find it useful for a variety of projects . Apple cider vinegar is a very useful product , use it on a salad , use it to tenderize meat , mosquito bite itch - it stops the itch , use it for cleaning things , very useful product .
Not fish oil. [livescience.com]
Cyanoacrylate was originally sold as an industrial adhesive in 1958. it was not used in battlefield first aid until the 1970s. And not approved by the FDA for medical use until 1998.
WD-40 does not contain fish oil, contrary to a popular myth, nor does it contain silicone, kerosene, water, wax, graphite, chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).
I know if you read the can it say degreaser which means it is either a solvent or an acid.
