Believers. I've noticed a few people state that they are believers in their profiles. Why come here? Just curious. Do atheists go to christiamingle to find a date? It just seems odd unless the ultimate goal is to try to convert someone.
The male Believers that I have interacted with on this site who were not scammers where here with high hopes of getting laid. They have used up all the other dating sites and are looking for hookups. This site is free so it's easy. They do not care that you are Atheist or Agnostic, They do not care what you are into or how you lean politically, they are here simply looking to hook up and anyone will do. They can't understand that an Atheist will want nothing to do with a believer and believe that because they are into you, it translates that you will be into them. They are relentless and they think women are stupid. They are used to rejection on other sites and are hoping to win over an occasional dumb one, so they keep trying. I've noticed they usually post a few very random yet controversial posts to trigger responses, (usually from women), just enough to level up to send messages. Once they can send messages they are on you like flies on shit. They get reported for being rude and in a timely matter they are ejected. I try to report them immediately to save time and trouble. They are not here to convert or add to the conversation and they have ZERO to contribute to our community. The female profiles are almost always scammers. If something doesn't smell or look right it probably isn't. I urge you to report all suspicious profiles, especially believers to site support.
I hadn't thought of that. The scammers yes. I have had three thirty somethings wanting me to msg them. I'm no genius, but l am smart enough to know l am invisible to women of a certain age.
What I don't understand is that, if they are believers, and presumably followers of the man and his book, why they would participate in pre-marital sex of any kind. The cherry-picking of rules and regulations of christianity is ridiculous.
the site permits it. i can think of several motivations for a believer to come here:
not finding a date within his/her (usually his) own community. good luck with that.
trolling. report!
trying to convert people. that's not so different from trolling except that the trolls might be here to make us feel stupid (good luck with THAT!) and the evangelists really think they have a chance of convincing us. report anyway.
self-doubt, in which case, be kind, but remind the believer that while we don't mind helping out, we cannot be expected to disprove the existence of any gods without being expected also to disprove ALL of them, and any demi-, semi- and nongods from the supernatural world that might spring to mind. we could start with unicorns, drill down through leprechauns and take a side-trip to the tooth fairy, but we'd be awfully tired before we got through those, and there are an awful lot of gods to disprove too. (check wikipedia for lengthy, if not complete, list.) shall we start with the aztecs or jump right to the gods (yes, more than one) of the bibles (yes, more than one)? do titans count? so we do need to make it very clear that this isn't the "we have proof and that's why we're atheists" site.
didn't pay attention while checking boxes. i have seen at least one profile with atheist and believer both checked.
g
On this site, most of them have the life expectancy of a teenager in a horror movie.
As long as they don't bother me or try to convert me I don't care otherwise that's what the block buttons for
I'm still trying to figure that out too I've heard relationships where one or the other is athiest don't work that well don't have the statistics especially when kids involved.**
Some people are looking for debate, so that may explain some of it. Even among the non-believers, there seems to be a percentage that thrives on conflict. Unless there's a genuine question that I think is asked in good faith (heh), I don't engage in debate anymore. I don't have the time, nor do I have the energy, for such mental masturbation.
If they were here to question, they would say so on their profile. It is boring and a waste of time debating christians. You can throw them all the scientific evidence, challenge the validity of believing in one document that has no supporting evidence and still they persist in delusion.
well, you're talking about faith. no matter what someone wants to say faith often wavers ... and faith that cannot withstand that wavering isn't worth anything. so many fathom the other side.
I am finding some of them quite tiresome.... abhorrent views on gays etc. I have decided not to engage in any of their posts so by boycotting them they will not have anyone to argue with....but others would have to agree to do this too.
@Donotbelieve I think that’s the best policy, but others would need to do likewise.
@Donotbelieve I must admit I initially did join in, but now I have thought about it I think that is playing into their hands. If we both ignore them and encourage others to do the same they will get fed up and go away, at least that’s my reckoning.
I block them. This is not the forum for me to engage with them.
Bear in mind, they are usually only posting subject matter that will trigger responses so that they can level up and start sending messages.
@CaroleKay I must keep that in mind and not respond.
I've been on christian mingle. Won't let you put atheist, as a religion. Other forms are okay. Atheisthiest isn't a religion...
I've noticed several, but only a few seem to want to convert us. My guess, therefore, is some religious people are as interested in atheism as some atheists are interested in religion. I'm happy to connect with them and discuss thoughts, beliefs and ideas, provided they respect my right to not have a religion as much as I respect their right to believe.
