A bit off, but the New NAFTA raised Mexican car building worker's pay to 16.50 an hour. Great for them, but the way the law is written it allows car plants, non unionized, in the U.S. South to keep lower wages at around 16.50 an hour. Much higher than minimum wage, but not a great salary. Note that in Seattle every worker gets at least 15 per hour.
Neither party in Congress has voted to raise their own pay since 1988. In 1989, they passed a law establishing a formula for automatic adjustments for inflation.
