I remember Magoo. These are the people who keep claiming the Democratic party was and is the party of slavery. Yes, back many years ago, most slave owners were aligned with the democrats. That started changing with FDR. Ask anyone with "heritage" going back to the Civil War and the South and chattel and one will find most are now republicans. People may not change in mass due to their family misconceptions being taught, but political parties do. Essentially the two parties exchanged many platforms. It would be interesting, but not able to ever see, to wonder where the parties may stand today if Eisenhower's Civil Rights Act had gotten traction and made it through Congress; ironically it was more in depth and more comprehensive than the one Johnson passed.
