"Who did you vote for?" Trump asked the Pastor rescued from Turkey, what if this Pastor didn't vote Trump? Would he have left him in rot in prison?
No, I think he'd have sprung him anyway, because:
Asking who he voted for was just part of his general strategy of wanting attention and publicity. It's also a dog whistle that says to evangelicals, if you vote for me, I'll to stuff like this for you.
This was well timed for the religious nut jobs right before mid terms... make no mistake.
NPR's Peter Kenyon:
"President Trump and his team have been tenacious in seeking the release of Pastor Brunson," Jay Sekulow, a lawyer for Brunson, said in a statement. "We're grateful to the President, members of Congress and diplomatic leaders who continued to put pressure on Turkey to secure the freedom of Pastor Brunson. The fact that he is preparing to return to the United States can only be viewed as a significant victory for Pastor Brunson and his family."
Trump is aware of the religious kudos associated with Brunson's release.
