I work with severely handicapped individuals. Most have some degree of intellectual disability as well. As anti-theist as I can sometimes be, I see a need for them to have this myth of religion to hold on to. Its a bit of a struggle to keep my mouth shut at times but I can’t burden them with the harshness that is their reality with no hope of reward. Anyone relate?

Yes, I can. the belief in religion has helped some of my friends from cracking up.

Yes absolutely. I work in an assisted living facility, and the elderly really cling to religion. When they ask me I just tell them this is work and I don't have opinions lol.

Why argue with anyone, or bring it up?
I don't care what people choose to believe..not my business.

Yes, my sister is severely intellectually disabled, I can't tell her that everyone she has loved isn't in heaven.
