Do you remember any day in your life when you didn't tell a lie, at least a white lie? Why do people lie even without a small gain?
I would hope that the majority of people even today do not lie daily. I'm not saying that I do not lie on occasion to spare someone grief or embarrassment or having their feelings hurt but the vast majority of days I do not lie as even white lies are a thing with me.
The majority of days in my life I had not told a lie.
When I was young (7 years old), I used to tell outrageous lies, then my dad, a huge man, 6'3" 280 pounds and built like an NFL lineman, got very angry at me and told me "I don't want to ever hear a lie out of you again!"
That made a big impression on me, and I've told very few lies since.
Lies sometimes are redesignated as tact, silence, a kindness, protection depending on the circumstantial dictates the necessity and intent of the lie.
I world where no body lied would be either silent or at constant war.
No need to lie. I have the right to remain silent.
of course i do. i lie so infrequently, even little white lies, that i must say most of my days go by without even one. i will lie if i am trying to organize a surprise party, for example. there is no percentage in lying, 99 percent of the time. besides, you have to remember what you said! it's safer not to bother.

Compulsive liars are one story. They want to seem like they have more self-importance.
If your girl asks "do these pants make my ass look fat"? There is no right answer. Lie like hell, or set the house on fire. It'd be easier dealing with the fire.
