I was quite taken aback by this, as it seems more the other way round to me especially in the US

Fox News: a comedy show popular for a short period of time in the early 21st century famous for parodies of reality, talking deliberate nonsense, inverted reality, over statement and understatement by a number of stand up comedians playing over exaggerated characters posing as journalists (See: Hannityisms, Tuckerisms and the term of abuse for a pervert "a fucking Bill O'Reilly" )

Now largely accepted to have been a poor joke that went on too long, any information arising from such a source should never be taken seriously.

Logic turned completely on it’s head.....! It’s interesting how they have turned us into aggressors and bullies and themselves into victims and martyrs. They manage to quote a few scientists who remained nominally religious, but completely ignored the most eminent of them who were atheist. It is just what would be expected from the religious right, they are using the tactic of trying to discredit our disbelief rather than provide any evidence to substantiate their belief.

Leave it to Fox News to bring up "Merry Christmas." They do it every time as if those words were in their bible or something. There is no "war on Christmas." If there is a war on anything involving theist belief it is a war on ignorance. Believe what you want to but it is NOT Jesus' birthday.

To begin with, there's the source - Faux news, peddlers of rage to the aged. Then there are all the instances of blessings religion has delivered - the burning of the Library at Alexandria, the Crusades, how the good word has been introduced to indigenous peoples, to which those who draft bathroom bills and can't be alone in a room with a bottle of Mrs. Butterworth's would claim is ancient history. Drive in the Bible Belt or other other pretentious, religious parts of the US and try not to pay too much attention to the Christian billboards, but see what happens if an atheist billboard were to go up in such an area. Used to be, and still is in some areas, that how you were treated was a function of religious membership, but this has been expanded to now include party affiliation. Yeah, it's the atheists who are the bullies.

It’s way too broad of a brush IMO, but there are some shreds of truth. How can you fault someone for what they believe or don’t believe? Do we really have any choice? Such an angry and aggressive stance by the author is totally ineffective and will generate nothing but defensiveness and counter-anger. On the other hand, anger and aggression by a handful of strident atheists is responsible for generating that same response.

IMO it is silly to argue over the existence of “God”. No one knows what that is. No one understands what “existence” means . We don’t know what “know” means. We don’t even know what we ourselves are, but by all means, go at each other with sticks and stones if you want to. That’ll settle the issue.

Religion good.

Atheism bad—very very bad!

Don’t read it, it will only put your blood-pressure up! Just think of all the logic we have used to come to the conclusion that there is no evidence of god and turn it completely on its head by saying ...well that is fine but if all the other idiots who haven’t used logic outnumber us, then we must be wrong and they must be right. Oh, and as for wars....atheism has been the cause of more of them than religion! Never remember anyone going on an atheist crusade or shouting “Atheism Akbar” when they cut off people’s heads!

@Marionville ha, no, my blood pressure won't go up from that, but no, i don't go to their site. silly people. sad that folks believe those lies, though.
