There is a question of "Do you believe in god" My answer was no. When asked how sure I am, I answered 75%. The reason for my answer is that I consider myself a man of science. There is no way to be 100% sure their is or isnt a beginning before the big bang. In light of the recent events surrounding the details of the last paper Stephen Hawkings wrote. which disproves the existence of god, I will wait till I have read that, maybe my answer will change. till then I leave it to science.
Hawking said that there is no one who directs the universe. His concept of God, the God in which he disbelieved, was objective. He was thinking of a God who is “out there”—something like a person but with supernatural powers. I don’t believe anything like that myself and never have.
There is however an ultimate reality that is deeply enmeshed with conscious awareness IMO. I would not label that as “God”, but some people do. True reality is subjective—“WE” collectively are that reality.
nothing can disprove the existence of god; that doesn't mean there are any gods, of course. i like what asimov said, after a lifetime of saying something a little different:
“I am an atheist, out and out. It took me a long time to say it. I've been an atheist for years and years, but somehow I felt it was intellectually unrespectable to say one was an atheist, because it assumed knowledge that one didn't have. Somehow, it was better to say one was a humanist or an agnostic. I finally decided that I'm a creature of emotion as well as of reason. Emotionally, I am an atheist. I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect he doesn't that I don't want to waste my time.”

The definition of God can be anything. If it is something that can not be perceived of comprehended by man, then by definition I can not know god does not exist, so I am agnostic.
With all the knowledge and experience that I do have I am certain that no God that any religion proffers exist. I am an atheist, I do not believe there is a God.
I agree with you. First one has to define "god". Second, one has to claim to have all knowledge.
