Do you ever feel like a survivor dodging bullets? Are a lot of friends and family that you care about either in health or financial ruin? Did you consider these people to be smarter and better than you at one point? Are these people in chaos many years before their time? Do you feel like the tables could so easily be turned and it could be you in their place? Do you struggle to find a way to reach out to them when they are going through hard times?
Most of my friends (all younger than me) are experiencing serious health issues and/or financial hardships. I count my blessings every day that I am healthy - on no meds - able to enjoy whatever the day brings. As to the why and how - a few good choices made along the way and a fair degree of luck. And, yes, I try to reach out and help in whatever way that I can....they are all good people who are just struggling to keep their heads above water.
Yes, I feel incredibly fortunate to live in a neighborhood that is mostly free from violence, and AFAIK no one has experienced a drive by shooting. On the other hand, living has steadily become more difficult throughout my life, and I know people who are having difficulties that we are incapable of helping, including family. VOTE
I have family that I feel a need to give a hand up, but all they want is a hand out.
They are one bad decision away from being,
Without a car, Homeless, Losing their kids.
How can you help someone who can't help themselves.
Some of my friends and exinlaws had it coming and some not so much. Some ask for help and some don't... Nothing makes any sense.
