A weird moment

I was just having breakfast at Maccas, McDo or whatever you want to call this junkfood outlet with the Golden Arches when a small crowd attracted my attention and curiosity. Now this is a McDonald's joint that usually doesn't attract many foreigner. It is in a still rural part on the outskirts of Canton, China.
Somehow I had already made up my mind about these guys and was hoping they would prove me wrong … But they even pushed the vice further than I had expected them to do.
Lo and behold suddenly they rose and started praying. I guess they started praying to the gods of fast foods and indigestions.

I was wondering what would happen if some communist would start preaching communism in such a popular place.

Well, at least in China, that does take some guts, as China has been known oppress Christianity.

The Christians in America claiming they are brave when they do something like this are annoying as hell.

China does not oppress Christinaty. There are heaps of churches. However, the government wants to control what is being said. The government is all to happy for people to be dumbed down but does not accept preachers who might be critical of the regime.
Outside major churches there is often a panel displaying the rules that apply to running a religious venture.

in japan i used to be approached by mormons every time i went to kinko's to make copies. someone told me kinko's was owned by mormons but i have not verified that. i am pretty sure mcdonald's is not owned by a particular religious group... odd that in such an outlying area of china this should happen. by the way, i always wanted to take a boat from osaka to shanghai, while i was out in that half of the world, but it just never happened. i am sure they must have golden arches in shanghai, too, though i would avoid them there as anywhere, but i wanted to see if they still had a synagogue. ah well. tangents. forgive me.

There Golden Arches but at some stage they very outnumbered by KFCs. Pizza Hutt and Starbucks abound in more affluent areas.
I was approached several times by JWs. Their preferred hunting grounds seem to McDonald's and IKEA. Nowadays the dection has become less easy because many have swapped their paper bible for electronic bible shit.
