@LenHazell53 I lived in Uganda from 1975 to 1980. I was openly atheist but faced no intolerance from the Ugandans. The majority were either Roman Catholic or Scottish Presbetarian. However, Muslims too mingled freely. People were civilised and always ready to discus and learn.
Only latterly has pompous officialdom started to dictate life and religion.

@LenHazell53 Do not confuse Idi Amin and his henchmen with the people. Do you judge the American people based on Donald Trump? I met friendly, down-to-earth, helpful Americans when I toured around California, Arizona and Nevada by Greyhound bus in 1982 and 1984.
In Uganda I had Christians and Muslims working for me. It was useful, because I gave the Muslims Friday off work, and they worked on Sundays when the Christians were off. I'm sure a South American refugee arriving at a Trump administered detention centre would have horror stories.
German people were horrified by the atrocities of the Nazis. Don't judge them by Hitler.
I judge by the man in the street, not those in power.
