"We are so much alike," my daughter Claire, 28, said. "We are both intense, intelligent, athletic, high energy and funny."

Raising Claire was like being nose-to-nose and toe-to-toe with myself. Starting when Claire was born, I learned to focus on the big picture ("This is temporary" ) and eliminate as many conflicts as possible.

"My intensity is too much for some people," Claire said two years ago. "Me, too," I replied.

Over tea, Claire and I had a fascinating conversation about managing our intensity and high energy. We both exercise, meditate and do yoga. Get good sleep. We are both foot wigglers to expend excess energy.

"Your mannerisms, inflections and the way you tell a story- making me feel like I was there- are exactly like Claire!" five of Claire's friends told me at her wedding. "If I close my eyes, you sound like Claire talking."
