If there is no reason for existence, then is there no reason for reasoning and hence no reason for rationality. That doesn’t mean irrationality is the default as it wouldn’t exist without rationality.

Reason exists separate from reason of existence. Understanding the reasons things work a certain way is a crucial part of applying knowledge. Rationality is a tool raising your chances of survival; that's the reason it exists.

There is a reason for existence locally (your life and mine), but it depends on the individual I guess. It's relative. If there is no reason for existence universally (as a whole existence), then nothing matters on a grand scale. There is essentially no finish line, but there is still a journey. You can have local purpose that doesn't extend to a universal purpose. Then again, it could all just be in your own head anyway so then universal and local is the same thing.

There was no reason for existence until consciousness emerged.

Our reason for existence is our own.

Your if-then statements are very similar to christians' reasoning.

Meaning: your "then" does not follow. It assumes facts not in evidence.

if-then statements are scientific statements used by sixth graders?????????
its literally just a way to organize reasoning jeez

@KillerQueer I meant that the "then" part of your statement was/is incorrect. It does not immediately follow.

Well if there is no reason for Rationality then why are you trying to qualify it with a question?...that's not rational ?

I also like to say words.

Reason is self determined either within a system by pressures based on hard science like gravity or by decisions made by sentient or semi sentient creatures or by animals reacting to outside pressures or the weight of instinct like Beavers building dams. Humans put reason/purpose before thought and decision making. We like to pretend we do things only under the influence of outside forces both provable and unproven(able). While the provable and perhaps unprovable do factor into our decisions I think there is an element of free will that can act on our choices. Considering how much both reasoned science based fanatics and religious dogma based fanatics resist this it is amusing too me that at the end of the day they are both seeking the same thing; control. One can argue all day with a religious fanatic and be right, but when his belief drives action and put a bullet in you that is certainly real enough for me to be cautious about holding their beliefs in contempt. One can argue all day long with a reasoned based fanatic but when they chemical castrate someone for being homeless or throw your family in a oven so they can justify war and steal your property and wealth they should be treated with caution. Both need to be stopped but believing they are wrong simply because there reasoning does not match our own is missing the point. Reasons need to be defined and justified in order to be worthy in a moral society. No alternative facts, no surface divisions of humanity based on gender/race/nationality etc. We need to as a species have the courage to define our reasons and own them not excuse them as a bi-product of human weakness or unprovable dogma. Only when we can face our own reasoning can we constructively break down others and only from a place of respect for their struggles and realities can we change them or at the least their children or their grandchildren. A better world is a long game and right now in humankind too many of us are far too obsessed with the now and convenience versus time given and patience.

I find your logic to be flawed.

@Shankil Now you're just being extra.

There is no rationality without irrationality, in a similar way 'to be' implies 'not to be', What appears is neither rational nor irrational; appearance is simply given.
What are the conditions for what is given? We have no choice but to ask, to be rational.

You're statement is irrational. Perhaps you are unaware that the word reason has two distinctly different meanings.

Think about what you are saying. 'No reason' does not equate to no value. Existence has instrinsic value, to the existee at least.
