“Ehue,” it is Latin for “oh no, or look out!”

I say "skat there" which is a saying from the Appalachian region. The reason for a sneeze is to expel an evil spirit and saying "skat there" is telling the evil spirit to "skat" or "get away from here".

I ask if bringing their deity into my shot problems is an abuse of power in some way

"Bless you" and my lips don't catch fire when I say that.

I don't think I'd feel blessed in the presence of any god created by man.

I'd consider that response appropriate specifically for the situation, it's the comment I consider inappropriate.

Saying "God bless you" after someone sneezes is a custom from beliefs thousands of years old.
But I don't think about it because I've been in Thailand since 2010, and it's not the custom here at all.
