My left arm is losing feeling and strength, should I go to the hospital or trust it to pass?
Why on Earth are your asking this question on a public forum?
See a doctor immediately.
I seem to have a developing medical issue. Should I contact my doctor, go to the ER, or ask random people on the internet what to do?
are you able to at least call you Dr's office and ask their opinion?
@AmmaRE007 It was sarcasm.......
Timeline? Are we talking 15 mins , hours, days?
The losing strength is the most troubling part to me.. I would go to a dr immediately.. any type of partial paralysis (numbing, loss of motor control etc) can be a very bad sign (from heart attack to brain aneurysm)
@Secular_Squirrel An Ambulance will solve much of that. There should be no wait time.
The hospital should have social services and provide a Psych emergency sitter if needed for your wife - she can bring the child with her. Go!
I would go to the emergency room depending on your plan.
If you have a doctor call their office and they may be able to better access with a few questions.
Surprised by the unhelpful comments
Now for me..firstly is your face uneven, can you smile? Can you raise your arms equally? Is your speech slurred? If no to all these then I suggest you are ok.
Not having a stroke at least lol. Like others have said could still be serious if its sudden and severe. Or could just be a posture problem. I have alignment issues with my hips shoulders n back that sometimes cause this to a subtle extent, especially if Ive spent too much time slumped down looking at/typing on my phone. If youre asking online im hoping its a mild case of that, but if it feels like a real problem, assume it is, see a doc.
@Amisja what part was unclear? You gave him the test for a stroke, but thats not the only way for the problem to be serious is all I wanted to point out. Probably isnt, but id be very careful about assuring him of it without more info.
Of course if hes asking strangers online it should go without saying that all our opinions come with a grain of salt.
What about the signs for a heart attack?
@PalacinkyPDX I am a healthcare professional. Not uninformed
I hope that you got it looked at. How are you now?
Critical care if one is nearby. If not, and doc not available, hospital.
Based upon the limited information you provided I have no idea but if it is serious enough in your mind then you should probably check it out.
If this is sudden onset and something you’ve never experienced before, you need to seek medical attention ASAP.. regardless of your age.
Go immediately and have it checked out. Bypass the GP and go straight to A and E. Never ignore symptoms!
I suggest amputation using a rusty butter knife. The resulting blood poisoning will get you off work on sick leave while your paperwork goes through for disability and retraining (I suggest stagecoach driver). Tell me which hospital you will go to and I'll arrange a series of enemas (4 a day) by hacking your insurance account (I could really use the last 4 digits of your SS #).
Is it chronic and getting worse over a period of weeks or is it more recent? If it's recent, I would suggest it has something to do with the way you are sitting at your desk, or sleeping. Try changing your posture. If it's been weeks or months, then it may be something else and definitely worth checking, but dont' go to a hospital, get a PT referral from your doctor.
There's been a lot of this going on around me lately. I have this happening too. Numbness is nerves being pinched. It can be a minor thing in your muscles that physical and massage therapy can fix or it can be bones pinching nerves in your joints and spine. Bone problems are serious and get worse with time. So if the problem persists you should see a doc. X rays and MRI s can tell the story.
I’d go but I have insurance. I’m not a doctor but I think left side bad, right side meh. Might consider contacting 911 over a dating site.
