I love the quote in here by Dwight Eisenhower, the last decent Republican president:
Eisenhower was never actually a real Republican. Both parties courted him because he, while in the mitary, had not committed to either one. Factoid: Eisenhower put for a civil rights act that went absolutely no where in Congress; interestingly enough had it passed, it would have been stronger than the one LBJ got installed. Most of us here might be republicans now, and Trump would be the Democrat.
The lines between the parties have been blurred somewhat, in the past, true. I'm quite certain Ike won on the Republican ticket, however.
Why not just give the quote? I’m not watching a 15 minute video.
I thought Ford was a good guy.
Ford was okay, kind of a bumbler, didn't do a whole lot. Ike basically built much of the modern infrastructure we have today, and as a military man, knew the dangers of the melding of interests between the military and corporate interests, labeling the "military/industrial complex" that we see dominating and draining our economy today.
@Condor5 Quite a few things these days that are draining our economy...
@SpikeTalon and our sensibilities.
One of the last decent Republicans, period, on the national stage. John McCain was the only one like him in recent memory. Too good for today's Republican party...
McCain was an honorable man, for sure. When Trump was elected, after talking about McCain the way he did and getting away with it, I knew we were in big trouble.
