I never answer the "what if you're wrong?" question that worshippers never answer themselves. I actually change the question: If god were proven to exist, would I praise it? And the answer to that is shit no. Nothing changes the fact that they are still oppressive, genocidal lunatics and nothing is worth wasting away my dignity for. It would just be unfortunate that I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.
When I'm asked that question, I always answer with, "Then I'll give him an opportunity to explain himself."
Real or delusional, the god of the bible is nothing more than a genocidal, homicidal, psychopathic, maniac, not worthy of anything but contempt and exclusion from any sane society. (IMHO)
ETA: “The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.” - Richard Dawkins
I was just asked this question today. I told them Pascal's wager was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They had no clue who Pascal was, let alone that they were basically quoting him. Religion makes people dumber.
