What's the craziest pseudoscience you've heard about women's health? The other week, I got to sit down with Dr. Jennifer Gunter and talk about the mad world of vagina woo. Check it out:
Having a baby will "Cure" menstrual cramps!
Apparently they thought a hymen was causing cramps. A fine bit of woo from my family Doctor.
That or they believed that the cervix being stretched out would cure cramps? Also incorrect.
I had Endo. From day one.
Ok, bear with me here. The victorian Europeans believed that educating a woman decreased her fertility. Too much thinking decreases the baby making humors or what have you. Funnily enough there is an inverse correlation between how much education a woman receives and how many children she has. Talk about being right for the wrong reasons.
