The job of a lobbyist is to educate the legislators as to the various subjects they need to tackle during their tenure. I did that for a prostate cancer law in Colorado years ago (requiring the insurance companies to pay for prostate cancer screening as they would for breast cancer). I think we spent a total of $25 during our 4 month effort, and that was on gas money reimbursement.
What lobbyists are doing today is bribing the legislators with large donations and gifts. Here in Missouri, that will no longer be allowed for the state and local governments. The same types of laws need to be enacted on a federal level to level out the "field." Citizens United needs to be over turned, but there needs to be a law on the books that does just that.
you are correct. people want to eliminate lobbying. for the most part they're right because of how lobbying is used. i am with them to a large extent but the citizens have a right to lobby, and citizens have a right to name a representative to lobby for them. it is corporate lobbying that should be banned.

I agree! Level the playing field.
